Featured: Alaska Bride and Groom magazine

The new issue of Alaska Bride and Groom just came out and my images from Brooke and Garrison's wedding (in August at Raven Glacier Lodge) are featured in the "Real Weddings" section...click here to see the blog post on their wedding (or here to see their engagement photos).

St. George seal swim

I made this short video while on St. George Island last fall. This was taken down in the harbor while swimming with northern fur seal pups that gather to play in the shallow, protected waters. I've been enjoying playing with video technique and hope to develop some real projects in the future. Stay tuned.

Cortney & Jason - Girdwood, AK

Cortney and Jason were sure brave to have a winter wedding in the northland and then be willing to strut around for portraits in the brisk day that the ceremony landed on. We lucked out with great weather down in Girdwood the day of the wedding--partly cloudy skies and a fresh dusting of snow. Everyone had their own highlights I'm sure but for me it was the top hats that the gentlemen wore, the distance which an entire clan of Cortney's French friends traveled just to see her marry, and the teary breakdown on the part of Cortney during the ceremony. One should never be ashamed of such a sincere outpouring of emotion on their wedding day. I dig it!

Miranda & Nathanael - New Orleans, LA

I go way back with these two. Nathanael was one of the first people (besides my dorm-mates) that I met in college. Miranda was one of the goofiest.

Here's how they first met: Miranda loved the way Nathanael walks (who doesn't?) so one day she jumped out of the bushes (outside of the college dining hall) to scare him. From what I understand this would mark their only interaction until 6 years later when the two reconnected while living in Boston. Nathanael must have either forgotten about the emotional scar Miranda had left on him all those years earlier, or perhaps their odd first meeting had been the catalyst for his attraction to her. We may never know.

Regardless, this was a perfect weekend in New Orleans celebrating the bond of two dear friends and catching up with other old college friends. (It also served as a nice break from my island living).

A few of the photos are from the rehearsal the day before the ceremony. Scroll down to the bottom to see their slide show!
